Thanks Coe!

Legos have been able to span across generations in a way that many other brands have not. If you’re really into Legos, make sure you keep up with their architecture series (http://architecture.lego.com); it looks like they have something exciting coming up next Month!

Best,
Kevin

Thank you for your comment and readership Shaheen! It is truly amazing how quickly this sphere is changing. I will keep Omek Interactive on my radar. I’m looking forward to any innovative thoughts and progressions in this industry.

Thanks!

Hi,

I want to comment that there is significant opportunity for use of 3D gesture recognition and body tracking technology in the field of marketing. There are a few gesture and body tracking solutions available in the marketplace. The leading provider is Omek Interactive with the only camera-independent solution, so developers have a choice of camera/sensor, as well as OS and language selection. Omek develops middleware that abstracts raw depth map data from any 3D camera/sensor and provides a platform for application development. Omek’s solution processes the raw data from the 3D depth cameras out in the market-- including Kinect, identifies the humans in the scene, and then determines the skeletal forms of the humans. It also tracks the movement of target humans over time, providing body and gesture tracking data. Check out Omek at www.omekinteractive.com. Additionally, Omek has built a unique Gesture Authoring Tool, based on machine learning, making the gesture development process easier and more efficient, thereby reducing development time.
You can get a FREE non-commercial SDK from Omek, which include gesture libraries, APIs, documentation, etc. Omek's technology camera-independence also means that it supports code portability across cameras available at the present time and into the future as more cameras become available.

Great share Cristene!

For the rest of the Kinect Hack Junkies out there, it looks like it has been released for Windows! Same look, different specs; we will only need to be 16in away from the sensor now instead of 20. Read here: http://bit.ly/xefNfg

Great things coming!

Thank you for your comment and readership Trish!

Let me go ahead an echo your thoughts around enthusiasm. Participation is an essential step in the process, but influence and engagement are on an elevated level. Enthusiasm is contagious and necessary in that engagement process. And, if you truly want a movement, a substantial amount of retribution is necessary. Furthermore, it is key to be part of a community, rather than expect to force it in any direction. If it is truly a community, it is on the path towards significance.

Additionally, here is a great TED talk about initiating movements.

Enjoy!

Kevin,

Fantastic post. I found myself cheering when you wrote <i>"The brand awareness in and of itself is not sufficient. The mention is only a little significant. Without influence and engagement, it’s just a word. With influence and engagement, it can become a movement."</i> That should be taped to the monitor of every person and agency using social networks and new media to represent a brand!

Old Spice is a great example of a brand getting it right and there are many others that are really having a good time and making it fun to participate (like Threadless for example).

I think in order to stand apart from the crowd, creativity is a must. Like you mentioned, you can't just cross post information on your networks. You have to offer something more than you'd get from a print/TV ad, when you're using social media.

All the best,
Trish | Community Manager | Radian6
